Our True Home is in the Present Moment (by Thich Nhat Hanh)

Our true home is in the present moment.
To live in the present moment is a miracle.
The miracle is not to walk on water.
The miracle is to walk on the green Earth in the present moment,
to appreciate the peace and beauty that are available now.
Peace is all around us in the world and in nature, and within us;
It is in our bodies and our spirits.
Once we learn to touch this peace,
we will be healed and transformed.
It is not a matter of faith,
it is a matter of practice.
We need only to find ways to bring our body and mind
back to the present moment so we can touch
what is refreshing, healing, and wondrous.

Yes, to live in the present moment and to find peace.  I heard an author on a podcast recently who talked about 6 seconds of happiness.  Simple concentrate on your breath – feel and sense the inhalation, and now the exhalation.  Think of nothing else except your breath and feel it.  For those 6 seconds you were probably happier and even at peace.  Why?  Because your mind wasn’t racing to the past in regret or to the future in worry.  You were right here and right now.  How simple.  How wonderful.  And the invitation to expand that practice throughout the day.  To just take a moment.

It reminds me of Colossians 3:15 which says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart.”  To accept the peace of God, already within.  To be aware of it, to accept it, to allow it to flow, to fill and to rule.  No mater what, all is well in this moment and all will be well at the end.  For I am in God and God is in me and nothing shall separate.  No there is no need to fear.  The miracle is to allow this to be, to let it “rule” me.  And then my consciousness shifts and I begin more easily to see the miracles all around me and that all is miracle as I walk not on water, but on this green earth.
