You Don’t Have to Act Crazy Anymore (by Hafiz)

You don’t have to act crazy anymore,
We all know you were good at that.

Now retire, my dear,
From all that hard work you do

Of bringing pain to your sweet eyes and heart.

Look in a clear mountain mirror –
See the Beautiful Ancient Warrior
And the Divine elements
You always carry inside

That infused this Universe with sacred Life
So long ago

And join you Eternally
With all Existence – with God!

What a relief!  I don’t have to be crazy anymore.  It’s exhausting.  I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get “crazy” when I forget who I am and and forget the truth about my life and myself.  That phrase in Luke 15 about “coming to your senses” – coming into our right mind is so important.  Remembering the truth we’ve forgotten not only about ourselves but about God, life and love.  “Retire from all that hard work you do” – life doesn’t have to be so hard.  At least the “hardness” that I can add to life through my distorted thinking that brings such “pain to my sweet eyes and heart.”  Look deep within.  See who you are.  Know your identity in God.  See the beautiful divine person within.  Divine?  Christians shouldn’t say that should they?  We’re not divine, we’re sinners?  But maybe that’s what makes life so hard and difficult when we believe how bad we are.  When God looks at us, what does he see?  Something bad, wicked and evil?  Or something beautiful, eternal and lovely?  All I know is that believing the former makes me live in craziness.  And seeing myself as I think God sees me helps me to come to my senses, live in God’s ease and enjoy this journey.  It’s about eternal perspective isn’t it – “joined eternally with God” – knowing nothing shall be able to separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
