Believe It.

The seeker said to God: “Tell me, tell me something I can treasure and remember.”

And God said “I love you. I love you. I love you.”

The seeker replied: “Is that all? Tell me something else.”

And God said “Believe it!”

What would it mean for you if you were convinced that God loves you unconditionally?

It’s one thing to believe it intellectually. It’s another thing to believe it with our hearts. I’ve heard it said that “We can only possess what we experience.” Truth to be understood, must be experienced. That’s what I want. That’s what we want isn’t it? To experience the love of God. To not just know it with our minds but to experience it in our hearts and lives.

That’s the journey for each of us isn’t it?  To move from fear to love.  To come to understand and experience that we are loved.  That we are loved beyond belief, beyond our understanding, beyond our limited knowledge with a love that is everlasting.  In Jeremiah 31:3 we hear God’s voice saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.”  How long is everlasting?  How long does that last?  Is there anything you or I could ever do that could or would change that everlasting kind of love?  Face it, we’re helpless to change how God feels about us!  So we surrender.  We trust.  We live in the freedom and joy that comes with understanding that there is nothing else to do but to receive that love, allow ourselves to be loved and experience that we are.  That’s the kind of truth that can change a life.
